Tau (Painting)

Tau (Painting)
Tau (Painting)

This abstract work is influenced by overall pattern used in Aboriginal Dreamtime paintings. The work has a number of value contrasts between complement sets, allowing the graphic space to float. Saint Anthony is associated with the Tau cross, as symbol of spiritual pilgrimage. I frequently meditate while I lap swim, and those of you that swim know that the Tau sits at the end of the wall to guide the swimmer. This acrylic work has a lot of rough and smooth texture, and bounces light throughout the day, always changing. The circle affixed is ink and wax. The image is made on a heavy, wonderful Indian handmade paper with a rough deckle edge that gives the work a physicality unlike mass produced graphics.
